Hi.

Welcome to my journey to Boston. I'm counting down the days and the miles to the July 28 race to qualify!  It's going to take a little sprinkling of yoga, running and weights to get there, and I hope you find inspiration to add some or all of these to your own life!

Today was an exciting day.  Boston Marathon.  First day of FitCamp.  First day of YogaCamp.  But I was probably most excited for the Marathon.  I actually wasn't able to watch it live but followed along on twitter and did end up finding a live stream of the finish to watch Des cross.  So incredible!

Here are three things I learned from today:

1. I learned about grit.  Did you see that weather?  Below 40 and totally wet.  I was glad I didn't qualify last year!  But, you can't control the weather so you just dig deep and still make the best of it.  Next year, whatever the weather may be, I pledge not complain and just soak up the race atmosphere.

2. I learned about teamwork.  I only saw this second hand from social media, but Des stopped to help her teammate Shalane get back into the pack after Shalane had to stop for the bathroom.  And Des freaking went on to win the whole thing!  She went on to say that stopping to help Shalane actually helped give her her legs back.

3.  I learned that good things take time.  This was not Des' first attempt at Boston.  Or her second, or third.  Sometimes it takes years to reach your big goals, but if you want something badly enough, you can work to make it happen.

I still hope to find recorded coverage of the race to watch it, but I am beyond inspired to continue this week's training runs.  We're coming out of winter mode here in Tulsa and it certainly won't be as bad as it was today in Boston.  No matter the weather, it is always a privilege to be running. 

I did the week 1, day 1 FitCamp circuits and 15 30:30 rowing sprints today!  Just what I was supposed to do - feelin' good!
